Pictures from Mumbai - 2nd May

Fortunately retrieved these from the virus-infected camera card:

Back to Delhi then flying home - 21st July

Three days shopping then the flight home with Blighty Airways.

Amritsar - 19th July

Amritsar, a horrible over-crowded polluted town with a fabulous Golden Temple.

The only border crossing point between India and Pakistan. When the border closes each day the guards from both countries ridicule each other with silly walks and pulling faces.

Chandigarh - 18th July

Chandigarh was designed by Le Corbusier and built in the 1950s as the new 'concrete' capital of Punjab.

Demonstrating my photography skills:

Delhi - 16th July

From Jaipur had planned on heading west into Rajasthan, but changed my mind and headed to Delhi.

Jaipur - 11th July

Getting from Agra to Jaipur took 11 hours - mainly because the train was 5 hours late.

One evening I fancied a cake but didn't have a clue which one to choose, so I ordered one of everything. The boxes weighed just under 1kg. I took them back to my room, tasted each one, then went outside and gave the lot to some child beggars in the street.

Taj Mahal, Agra - 5th July

Arrived Agra 5th July, Rosie and Florence's 17th birthday which I thought was poetic, and found a cheap room with a view of the Taj Mahal. I ended up staying here 5 nights. The view from my room:

These pests kept bouncing on the corrugated roof of my bedroom in the morning:

Gwalior - 3rd July

Couldn't decided whether next to follow the coast north-east towards Kolkata (Calcutta) or head north towards Delhi, but the decision was made for me when I was told that train lines to Kolkata were closed due to monsoon flooding. So went from Hyderabad to Gwalior on a sleeper train which took 26 hours.

Hyderabad - 26th June

Arrived Hyderabad on a 14 hour sleeper train from Chennai and decided to stay for a few days... then a few days more because of Delhi (Hyderabad!) belly...

Hard at rest in my room:
